Configuration Manager
OPC connection
This section describes the additional
configuration parameters when you plan to use the OPC connection client. More
information about OPC and the PRODBX-OPC driver see
Knowledge base OPC.
Select OPC in the connection type listbox when
defining the database connection. Your screen will look like:
- Node name or IP address: the machine
name or IP address where the OPC server is installed. If you leave this field
blank, the system will assume the OPC server is installed on the same machine
the connection client is running on. If you leave it blank, and the connection
client will run on a different machine than the configuration manager is
running on, you will have to enter some entries manually. (The configuration
manager will connect to the OPC server to facilitate some of the input)
- OPC server name: the registered name
of the OPC server. You can enter this manually, or select from the list
providing you can connect to the OPC server machine. You must have
authorization to read the registry of the machine your OPC server is installed
on.
- Locale Id: the numeric identification
of the language supported by your OPC server. The value will be defaulted to
the locale id of the machine running the configuration manager.
- Update rate: time in milliseconds the
OPC server should report changes of tags. This parameter is relevant when you
use the asynchronous options of the OPC server.
- Time Bias: Value in minutes.
In some cases the data may have been collected by
a device operating in a time zone other than that of the client. Then it will be
useful to know what the time of the device was at the time the data was
collected (e.g. to determine what ‘shift’ was on duty at the time). The Time
zone Bias provides the information needed to convert the time stamp on the data
back to the local time of the device.
- % Deadband: The % difference the
value should have before a tag is reported through the asynchronous channel.
